See if you can wrap your head around this one: Today, a benefit album has been released in which Tyler the Creator, Nick Cave, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Katy Perry, Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh, Metallica's Kirk Hammett, and Danny Elfman all perform the same 1892 song, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The song is "Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two)" and the LP is called The Gay Nineties Old Tyme Music: Daisy Bell. It was put together by Mark Ryden, the artist behind Tyler's Wolfartwork (and covers for Michael Jackson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, and others). The album has been released as part of his new exhibit "The Gay 90s", which opened today at Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles.
The album was pressed on 180-gram red vinyl in a pressing of 999. It costs $99.99, and the proceeds go to Little Kids Rock. Half of the LPs have been made available at the gallery, while the other half will be sold online via Ryden's website on May 13.
